Members of the Alabama State Bar’s Pro Bono Week Celebration Committee were present when Gov. Robert Bentley signed the proclamation recognizing Pro Bono Week in Alabama,October 23-29. The governor said “although nearly 4,500 members of Alabama’s legal community donated over 12,000 hours in free legal services last year and made generous financial contributions to legal aid organizations in our state, a huge unmet need for civil legal assistance remains for disadvantaged Alabamians.”
