R. Cooper Shattuck as Legal Advisor to Gov.-elect Bentley
January 12, 2011, Montgomery, Alabama – Alabama State Bar President Alyce M. Spruell of Northport (Spruell & Powell LLC) today issued the following statement on the appointment of
R. Cooper Shattuck as legal advisor to Governor-elect Robert Bentley:
"Cooper Shattuck has dedicated his life to public service and is an excellent choice to be the governor's legal advisor. His extensive knowledge and expertise, coupled with his considerable intellect and sound judgment, will benefit all Alabamians. His career epitomizes the Bar's motto, "Lawyers render service." He is well-known among the state's lawyers as a leader and has earned
the respect of his colleagues during his two plus terms as a member of the state bar's Board of Bar Commissioners and as a past Tuscaloosa Bar president. His body of work as a Bar leader has been centered on improving the Bar's pro bono and public service programs which provide advice and counsel to those who cannot afford it. We look forward to working with him in this position."
