Three ASB members have been selected to participate in Class XXI of Leadership Alabama where they will help to shape the future of Alabama. William Deal Coleman of Montgomery (Capell & Howard PC) was selected to chair the class. Joining him will be state Rep. Paul DeMarco of Homewood (Parsons, Lee & Juliano PC) and Robert Turner Meadows, III of Opelika (Capell & Howard PC).
ASB President Alyce M. Spruell of Northport (Spruell & Powell LLC), who is an LA alumnae said, “Involvement by our bar leaders in programs like Leadership Alabama is so important because of the networking with the business and government leadership that will certainly occur. I thank you for your willingness to become involved in LA, and for the continued leadership you both provide our Bar and profession. I know President Elect Jim Pratt and Vice President Billy Bedsole join me in congratulating you both on your selection to Leadership Alabama. If we can be of any assistance to you in the coming year, please let us know.”
Leadership Alabama gives established leaders across Alabama exposure to the broader fabric of the state. It develops a network of relationships and provides a structure for this network to seek mutual understanding of problems and priorities for Alabama’s future.
To prepare Alabama to move vigorously into the 21st century, progressive planning and administration of our public programs must become the challenge and responsibility of all of our private citizens. Alabama’s leaders in business, labor, education, the nonprofit and volunteer organizations, agriculture and all segments of our society must play a role if our state is to move forward. Leadership Alabama was founded to provide the network necessary to activate those citizens who must fill these leadership roles.
LA classes discuss, analyze and propose solutions to the many social, economic and governmental complexities associated with issues in areas such as: politics and government, education, business and economics and quality of life.
Leadership Alabama encourages its members to act, individually and in concert, to move Alabama forward to help our state reach its full potential. Individuals are nominated who demonstrate a commitment to community through past and present activities, demonstrate leadership ability in their chosen field through significant achievement, possess the potential for exercising substantial leadership in the future, and exhibit a personal commitment to moving the state forward.
