Anita Kay graduated magna cum laude with her Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Mississippi. She is a lecturer of Legal Writing at the University of Alabama. She is admitted to the United States District Courts – Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama.
During law school, Anita Kay received the Best Paper Award - Advanced Civil Procedure, the Best Paper Award – Labor Arbitration, the Inger Sjostrom Scholarship, Judge Henry Mize Scholarship, and the Order of the Coif/Farrah Law Society Scholarship. She was a Dean's Scholar, Hugo L. Black Scholar, member of the Order of Coif, and a John A. Campbell Moot Court Competition semi-finalist. She was Lead Articles Editor of The Journal of the Legal Profession. At the University of Mississippi, AnitaKay was vice president of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, copy editor and senior staff writer for The Daily Mississippian, and she received the Bledsoe Academic and Butler Voice Scholarships. She clerked for Justice Harold See before joining Johnston Barton Proctor & Rose, preceding her move to Tuscaloosa in 2012. She has been published multiple times and is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the Birmingham Bar Association. Anita Kay is associated with the Defense Research Institute and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association.
