On behalf of all of the more than 16,000 members of the Alabama State Bar, I welcome you to our great profession.  We wish you happiness and success as a lawyer, and we sincerely hope you will take an active role in our association. 

Our motto is “Lawyers Render Service”.  In that spirit, I would like you to consider joining one of our state’s Volunteer Lawyer Programs.  There are approximately one million people living in poverty in the State of Alabama and they cannot afford a lawyer when they need one.  As attorneys, we should try to help them whenever possible.  You may join the State Bar Volunteer Lawyer program by clicking www.alabar.org/members/vlp_enroll.cfm . Thank you for considering an active role in our Volunteer Lawyer Program.  You can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
