ASB Committee Helps Hispanic Community

As part of its continuing community outreach project, members of the ASB's Spanish Speaking Lawyers Committee manned a booth at the seventh annual Fiesta held in Birmingham in October.

Fiesta, Inc. is a not-for profit organization created by the Hispanic Business Council of the Birmingham Business Alliance. The mission of Fiesta is to organize and manage a yearly festival that educates the public and celebrates the diverse cultures within the Hispanic community in Alabama. This year's daylong event treated visitors to Hispanic culture through music, food and art. Local representatives from nearly 20 Latin American countries displayed educational exhibits peculiar to their particular country.

Committee members distributed copies of the bi-lingual version of the bar's public information pamphlets Notarios Y Abogados and Abogados Y Hororarios Legales, as well as provided basic information about the Alabama State Bar and the work of the committee.

Thanks go to those who assisted on-site: Scotty Colson, Jan Colson, Elisha Gentle, Juan Carlos Moreno, Daniel Arciniegas, Kate Pritchett, Phillip Barr, Wendy Padilla-Madden, Lou Willie, and Minerva Dowben.
