Where's Waldo?

A tip for locating information about Alabama's courthouses

The ASB Online Directory is one of the most frequently used resources of the state bar. Each month, the directory is accessed more than 65,000 times by lawyers and the public. Directory search information is drawn from information contained in the ASB member database which is why it is so important for members to notify the Membership Department if there is any change in the contact information we have listed for you. The Bar Directory Committee, chaired by Montgomery lawyer Jim Smith, conducts an annual review of the directory and offers suggestions on how to improve content.

One of the underutilized parts of the directory search involves how to obtain information about a specific courthouse—such as the hours of operation, contact information for the clerks, etc. Much of that information comes directly from our link on the page to the Administrative Office of Courts. Next time you need this type of information, follow these steps:

1. Go to www.alabar.org and click on the Bar Directory tab.

2. Scroll down underneath the member search box and you will see a link titled: The Judicial System–The Courts and Administrative Officers. Click on it.

3. Now you are on a page with court system-related links, one of which is at the bottom–Maps. Click on it.

4. Look for the map titled "Alabama's Judicial Circuits."

5. Now you can move the cursor over any county and find applicable information!
