Reappointment of Judge William S. Shulman Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Alabama

The current 14-year term of office of the Honorable William S. Shulman, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Alabama at Mobile, is due to expire February 2, 2010. The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit is presently considering whether to reappoint Judge Shulman to a new 14-year term of office. Upon reappointment, Judge Shulman would continue to perform the statutory responsibilities of a bankruptcy judge.

Members of the bar and the public are invited to submit written comment for consideration by the Court of Appeals concerning the reappointment of Bankruptcy Judge Shulman to a new term of office. All comments will be kept confidential and should be submitted to James P. Gerstenlauer, circuit executive, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, 56 Forsyth Street, NW, Room 304, Atlanta 30303. Comments must be received not later than July 27, 2009.

Reappointment of Incumbent Bankruptcy Administrator, Middle District of Alabama

The current five-year term of Teresa R. Jacobs, United States Bankruptcy Administrator in the Middle District of Alabama at Montgomery, expires February 22, 2010. As authorized under Regulations of the Judicial Conference of the United States Governing the Bankruptcy Administrator Program, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has established a review committee to consider whether Jacobs should be reappointed to a new five-year term.

The bankruptcy administrator is responsible for supervising trustees and debtors in possession and assuring that such persons effectively administer estates in cases in the district under Section 1334 of Title 28, United States Code.

Members of the bar and public are invited to comment on whether Jacobs should be recommended by the committee for reappointment by the Court of Appeals. All comments will be held confidential and should be submitted to James P. Gerstenlauer, circuit executive, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, 56 Forsyth Street, NW, Room 304, Atlanta 30303.

Comments must be received no later than July 27, 2009.
