Every Baby Can Have a Story

The Tuscaloosa County area recently came together to raise more than $100,000 for March for Babies, formerly known as WalkAmerica. The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, and its premier event, March for Babies, benefits babies born healthy, as well as those who need help to survive and thrive.

Premature births touch half a million babies and their families every year, including more than 10,000 in Alabama.

Top teams were recognized in the categories of large corporate teams, small corporate teams and family teams. In the category of small corporate teams, top teams included the First Presbyterian Preschool; the firm of Phelps, Jenkins, Gibson & Fowler LLP; and the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association Young Lawyers' Section.

Top family teams included "In Loving Memory of Brayden" Family and Friends Team, "Kate & Anna's Team" and Team Michael Garrison, honoring the son of Councilman Lee Garrison and his wife, Jessica Medeiros Garrison of Phelps, Jenkins, Gibson & Fowler LLP.

Top walkers for the campaign were Hope Robbins, Councilman Lee Garrison and Julie Love-Templeton of Julie Love Law.

The Top Regional Team, Publix Supermarket, contributed more than $150,000 to the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes, as well as provided food to over 4,000 walkers across the state.
