Man’s Best Friend: Adams & Reese Teams up with the Mobile Animal Shelter
HUGS Project Brings Smiles to Nursing Home Patients
The Mobile office of Adams & Reese has teamed up with the Mobile Animal Shelter for a HUGS project where employees take a monthly visit to the shelter and cheer up nursing home patients with "man's best friends."
The first trip, in April, was to Cogburn Nursing Home as two dogs, Frieda and Pebbles, traveled with Adams & Reese employees to spend time with the patients living there.
Volunteers who went on the first trip included Linda Rogers (paralegal), Karen Watkins (legal secretary), Jason Walker (office services supervisor) and Carmella Holmes (Jason Walker's mother).
Another way to "render service"
Firm employee Patty Taylor initially got the office involved in the HUGS opportunity.
The Adams & Reese HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support) program began in 1988 as the firm's employee volunteer program. Since its inception, the firm has devoted thousands of hours and untold dollars to offer communities "hands-on" activities and assistance to those less fortunate. Whether in the form of special events or participation in agency-sponsored fundraisers, firm employees and attorneys are known throughout the region and the nation for their community action in the firm's 10 offices nationwide.
