Dinetia Newman of Jackson, MS, is the president-elect designate of The American Health Lawyers Association. AHLA is the nation’s largest, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field and has more than 10,000 members. The Alabama State Bar Health Law Section is the designated Alabama affiliate of AHLA.
Dinetia will update the section on the sold out AHLA event, Healthcare Reform: The Law and Its Implications, to be held in Washington D.C., May 11-12. She will discuss the implications of some key features of the reform legislation and anticipated regulations for various sectors of the healthcare community, and the current state of the dialog ongoing with key government representatives with a special emphasis on the impact of reform at the state level. She will also discuss AHLA resources that are available to assist members in advising their clients.
