Thanks for Attending the 2020 Midyear Meeting

Thanks to all those who attended and participated in the Midyear Meeting! We wrapped up a successful two days of learning and networking with the judges last Thursday evening, and we look forward to more collaboration on events together in the future. 

Farewell to ALAP Director Robert Thornhill


Last week, we hosted a farewell breakfast for Robert Thornhill, who is retiring as the Director of the Alabama Lawyer Assistance Program. Robert was dedicated to his mission, and spent most of his days traveling throughout the state to help lawyers, law students and judges struggling with addiction and mental health issues. Young Lawyers' Section Orange Beach CLE

The Young Lawyers Section is hosting its annual Orange Beach CLE on May 14-17, at the Perdido Beach Resort. The CLE will include a panel of federal judges and an entire day devoted to business development and legal marketing. This course is pending approval by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee of Alabama for a maximum of 6 hours credit including 1.0 hours of ethics.  You can register at this link and check the YLS Facebook page for updates.


Montgomery County Bar's Inaugural Race Judicata 5K/10K 
 
Put your New Year's resolutions to the test and join the Montgomery County Bar Association for its inaugural Race Judicata 5K/10K and 1-mile fun run on Saturday, Feb. 29, starting at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church in downtown Montgomery. Proceeds benefit the Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program and Mercy House.
 
Birmingham Bar 2020 Membership Forum
 
For the 24th year, the Birmingham Bar Association will hold an annual day-long conference filled with inspiring speakers, networking, good food and valuable CLE programming. This year's forum will be on Friday, Mar. 6, at the Sheraton in downtown Birmingham. The 2019 Forum sold out, so be sure to mark your calendar and be on the lookout for registration information soon.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals will host oral arguments Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Supreme Court of Alabama will hold oral arguments Wednesday, Feb. 12. Click on the dates to view the respective dockets.
