Alabama State Bar Names Jeremy Rakes as ALAP Director

Jeremy Rakes is the bar's new director of the Alabama Lawyer Assistance Program (ALAP). He's spent the past 18 years with Bradford Health Services in Birmingham, where he held numerous roles including primary counselor, interventionist and family program director. We'll share more about Jeremy in a video series on our Facebook page this week. Read about his hire here.

Megan Hughes Joins Communications Dept.

Megan Hughes has joined the bar's Communications Department as Outreach and Content Manager. She'll help manage the bar’s content-related assets and assist Director of Communications Melissa Warnke. Megan came to the bar from the Family Sunshine Center, where she served as Public Affairs and Development Director.

Alabama Bankruptcy Assistance Project (ABAP) Free Bankruptcy CLE 

Join ABAP for a free bankruptcy CLE on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Birmingham Bar Center at 8 a.m. The program offers 5 MCLE credit hours, including 1.0 ethics hour. Find more details and register here.

Young Lawyers' Section Orange Beach CLE

The Young Lawyers' Section is hosting its annual Orange Beach CLE on May 14-17 at the Perdido Beach Resort. The CLE will include a panel of federal judges and an entire day devoted to business development and legal marketing. This course is pending approval by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee of Alabama for a maximum of 6 hours credit including 1.0 hour of ethics. You can register at this link and check the YLS Facebook page for updates.
