July 2021 Alabama State Bar Exam Results Released

The July 2021 bar exam results have been released. The pass list is available here. You can view your Alabama State Bar Exam results on your secure user homepage. The Fall 2021 Admissions Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28. Congratulations to all who passed!

Don't Forget - SSF Month Free CLEs Are This Thursday

As September comes to a close, we celebrate the largest section of the Alabama State Bar - the Solo and Small Firm Section. The Alabama State Bar's Solo and Small Firm Section will partner with the Birmingham Bar's Solo and Small Firm Section to host a 2-hour free CLE on Sept. 30, 2021, starting at 11:40 a.m. Register for both here.

Annual License Renewal Payments Due This Friday

Payments are due by this Friday, Oct. 1; payments made after Oct. 31 will be subject to a statutory late fee. Alabama State Bar members will notice a one-year fee decrease in fees. Occupational license fees are reduced from $325 to $300, and the corresponding reduction of the special membership fee goes from $162.50 to $150. Please note, fees will return to the regular rate in 2022. Payment may be made online or you can print a voucher to mail with your check at www.alabar.org.

ASB Women Lawyers Section’s Request for Nominations

The Women Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar is accepting nominations for the Susan Bevill Livingston  Leadership  Award. The Susan Bevill Livingston Leadership Award was created in memory of attorney Susan Bevill Livingston. Ms. Livingston was a longtime attorney with Balch & Bingham in its Birmingham office. The recipient of this award must demonstrate:

The candidate must be or must have been in good standing with the Alabama State Bar and have at least 10 years of cumulative practice in the field of law. This award may be given posthumously. Previous recipients of this Award include The Honorable Tammy Montgomery, Maibeth Porter, Kathy Miller, and Allison Skinner.  

The 2021 recipient of this Award will be honored at a reception to be held later this year at a date and time to be determined. Please submit all applications by 5:00 p.m. on Oc. 4, 2021, in electronic format to

Sign Up For Our Inaugural Pro Bono Book Club

The Pro Bono Month Celebration Task Force is launching the inaugural Pro Bono Book Club. The book club discussions would take place via Zoom from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesdays in October and reading may start as early as you'd like. This year's book selection is “A Knock at Midnight” by Brittany Barnett. It is a moving and fantastic read. Task Force members hope this kind of sharing will lead to an expanded dialogue among participants and even non-participants of the book club about pro bono services.

Mobile Bar Foundation to Host Tri the Gulf in October

Brought to you by the Mobile Bar Foundation, Tri the Gulf is a sprint triathlon on Dauphin Island, consisting of a 600 yard Gulf swim, 16.7-mile island + bridge bike, and 3.1-mile island run. The net proceeds from the event go to the Mobile Bar Foundation, which uses the funds to award grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that have a nexus to the legal community.
