Purpose & Scope

The task force shall meet to study and formulate a recommendation on the following issues:

 

  1. Whether the Alabama State Bar should adopt a diversion rule in its disciplinary process?
  2. Whether the Alabama State Bar should amend rules 8 and 20 of the Alabama Rules of Disciplinary Procedure to provide for interim suspension upon finding guilt, as opposed to a final order of conviction, or a serious crime?
  3. Whether the Alabama State Bar should amend Rule 20 of the Alabama Rules of Disciplinary Procedure to streamline the interim suspension process?
  4. Whether the Alabama State Bar should amend the Alabama Rules of Disciplinary Procedure to streamline the process for discipline by consent or allow the Disciplinary Commission to preside over matters involving disbarment by consent?

 

The task force shall submit a comprehensive written report to the Executive Committee of the Alabama State Bar no later than October 31, 2017.

 

The staff liaison shall assist the Task Force in carrying out this charge.
