Purpose & Scope

This committee is appointed as a standing finance/audit for both the Alabama State Bar and Alabama State Bar Foundation.  The purpose of this committee is to provide oversight for the Board of Bar Commissioners concerning all financial matters for both the Bar and the Foundation.  The scope of the committee’s oversight work shall include all capital expenditures, as well as equipment and/or supply purchases necessary for the functioning of any department of the Bar and/or Foundation; the determination as to whether any particular financial and/or expenditures should be brought to the committee shall be made by the President of the Bar upon advice and recommendation of the Executive Director, General Counsel, and/or Director of Personnel and Operations.

 

The term of service on this committee shall be as follows:

 

The President of the Bar shall serve during the year in which that person holds the office of President.  Thereafter, that person shall serve for the year they hold the office of Immediate Past President and for one year thereafter.  The Immediate Past President will serve during their term as Immediate Past President and for one year thereafter.  The President-elect will serve during their term as President-elect and thereafter for the terms set out for President and Immediate Past President.  The Vice President will serve during their term as Vice President and for one year thereafter.  The other appointed members to this committee shall be named and serve at the discretion of the president.
