Purpose & Scope

The Task Force shall review trends within the legal profession, including but not limited to economic and technological trends, with a targeted emphasis upon the challenges inherent in practicing law in the 21st Century, and shall propose and carry out a program or curriculum to assist members of the Alabama State Bar to obtain the additional education or technological skills needed to better meet the economic challenges they are currently facing.  Such programming may, but need not, qualify for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education credits.

The Task Force shall take advantage of all resources available to it through the Alabama State Bar, including its sections, and the American Bar Association other similar groups.  The Task Force shall also determine whether similar programs exist in other bar associations and, if so, review those programs to determine if any such program can be duplicated in Alabama.

The Task Force shall divide itself into such committees as shall be necessary or appropriate to effectively carry out its functions.  The chairperson shall appoint chairs for each committee.

The Task Force shall elect from its membership a secretary who shall be responsible for a written record of its actions.  The secretary, or a designee, shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Task Force, or any committee thereof.  The original of the minutes shall be filed with the Alabama State Bar within fourteen days after each meeting, to be made a part of the Task Force’s file.

The task force and its committees shall meet at the call of the chairperson or the committee, in person or by conference call as the chairperson and committee chairs shall determine.
