The Task Force is charged with recommending to the Board of Bar Commissioners a three to five year long range of action to assist the Board and the Executive Committee as both strategically plan for the work of the Alabama state Bar during the years 2016-2020. The Task Force shall pay special attention to the current status of the legal profession as well as be aware of how current trends are affecting the Bar and will impact upon the future of the profession in Alabama.
The Task Force shall create a specific plan of action, where appropriate, as the legal profession in Alabama seeks to define its own future. The Task Force shall examine challenges and opportunities for change. It shall also examine those areas where change would not be productive. Depending upon available resources, the Task Force may consider securing the services of a facilitator who could work as a consultant to the Task Force.
The Task Force shall review the 1994 and 2005 Long Range Plans as well as the Interim reports produced during 2002-2004. The Task Force shall review long range or strategic plans of other state bar associations as appropriate or as desired, particularly the Strategic Plan of the Michigan State Bar, and use all the resources available to it through the American Bar Association and other organizations that have expertise in this field.
The Task Force shall elect from its membership a secretary who shall be responsible for a written record of all its actions. The Task Force may divide into such sub-committees as the Chair deems appropriate to carry out its functions. The Alabama State Bar, through its designated staff liaison, will assist the Task Force in carrying out its purposes.
The Task Force shall submit a report of its findings to the Board of Bar Commissioners no later than July 12, 2017.
