Case Manager: Montgomery County Volunteer Lawyers Program

The Montgomery County Volunteer Lawyers Program is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides high-quality pro bono civil legal services, through volunteer attorneys, to qualifying low-income residents of Montgomery County.


The MVLP Case Manager will work alongside the Intake Director to assist in efficient and effective management of cases, placement of cases with volunteers, and timely reporting of case closure data. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Primary Responsibilities
• Manage placement of new cases with volunteer lawyers.
• Maintain a working and active list of volunteer lawyers.
• Monitor and track open cases and client demographics in LegalServer.
• Timely and appropriately close cases once legal work is completed.
• Assist the Executive Director with data reporting on cases for grant funders.

Additional Responsibilities
• The MVLP has a small full-time staff of 3 employees. In a team-oriented office environment, all employees are expected to assist with general office duties including organizing files, document management, answering phones, assisting the Executive Director with recruiting and recognizing program volunteers, and assisting with intake at all MVLP community legal events.
Necessary Skills & Education
• Completion of a 2- or 4-year program in legal studies, paralegal, or office management OR 5 years’ experience in client relations/customer service is required
• Strong communication (especially telephone) skills
• Familiarity with legal/grant databases
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Google Suite
• Preference for candidates with prior legal office experience

Salary & Benefits
• Salary range: $31k-$42k, depending on experience
