Elder Law Attorney

The Area Agency on Aging of the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission is seeking an Elder Law Attorney responsible for representing persons sixty years of age or older in Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia counties in non-fee generating legal matters, with priority given to those persons whose cases fall within the list of priorities as determined by the Area Agency on Aging Director and the Attorney based on priorities directed by the Older American Act and local needs.

Examples of duties include preparing legal documents, advising and counseling clients, appearing at administrative hearings and court hearings, speaking on legal issues of concern to the elderly, providing written information on legal issues on a quarterly basis to county aging programs, providing legal assistance for SARPC’s Long Term Ombudsman program, and completing service reports. This staff attorney will also serve as the general counsel for the programs operated by the Area Agency on Aging and Medicaid Wavier programs, most often related to contract review, policy review and correspondence with outside legal firms.
