Staff Attorney - Anniston

Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. As a non-profit law firm, our mission provides free, client-centered civil legal advocacy to low-income Alabamians and collaborates with others across the state and nation to find solutions to systemic issues caused by poverty and social justice inequities. LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys committed to supporting our mission. This is a full-time position in our Anniston Regional Office.

The attorney will assist in civil matters related to legal rights, benefits, and entitlements through legal advice, counseling, and representation to senior citizens in Anniston and the surrounding counties. The legal services provided will assist seniors who are the most vulnerable and who are at risk of losing their autonomy, dignity, or independence.

Additionally, the attorney will provide community education for the older population.

This project is sponsored by a grant through Area Agency on Aging (AAA).

Qualifications: This position is an exciting opportunity for attorneys who are admitted to the Alabama Bar and who are passionate about serving low-income populations. Strong legal writing and communication skills are required. Preference is given to bilingual attorneys.

Salary: $50,750 plus based upon experience

Benefits: LSA offers an excellent benefits package valued at approximately $19,000, including six weeks of paid leave annually and 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for each employee.
