Staff Attorney - Central Alabama Fair Housing Center

The Central Alabama Fair Housing Center (CAFHC) is hiring a staff attorney to assist with fair housing enforcement throughout a 29 county region of central Alabama. The attorney will conduct client intake, investigate complaints, interview witnesses, handle a fair housing case load, work collaboratively with other attorneys, advocates, and coworkers, assist with developing systemic legal strategies and program planning, work with local communities to combat discriminatory practices, and assist with public education and advocacy.

The selected candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to civil rights, social justice, and to working with diverse communities. Excellent legal research and writing skills are required, as is Alabama State Bar membership, eligibility for admission through reciprocity, or eligibility to take the next scheduled Alabama Bar exam.
