Young Lawyers' Section Wins National Diversity Award

Congratulations to the Alabama State Bar's Young Lawyers' Section on winning second place in the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division Embracing Diversity Challenge for their Minority Pre-Law Conference.The annual conference works to create a pipeline for minority students within our state to obtain valuable information about pursuing a legal career. We are proud of your work and accomplishment! The section won a $1,000 check from the ABA!

Proposed Amendments to the Eleventh Circuit’s Rules

Starting Dec. 4, a public comment period opens on proposed amendments to the Rules of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  The comment period will remain open until Jan. 3. A copy of the proposed amendments may be obtained on and after Dec. 4 from the court’s website.

ADLA to Host Dec. 12 CLE Webinar on Facebook Libre: The Planned Internet of Money

Facebook announced a June 2020 plan to launch Libra, a cryptocurrency on a decentralized blockchain. On Dec. 12, ADLA will host a webinar that will provide a basic overview into cryptocurrencies and blockchain, and review Facebook’s ambitious plan to bank the nearly 1.7 billion adults who still remain outside of the financial system who have no access to a traditional bank. The issues are complex, as both U.S. and foreign regulatory bodies are grappling how to classify Facebook’s Libra project. The webinar is open to ADLA members and non-members.
