Military Spouse Exception Approved by Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Alabama unanimously approved a military spouse exception to the current reciprocity rule, effective as of Jan. 30. Now, spouses of military members may be eligible for admission to the Alabama State Bar by showing admission in another jurisdiction and limited practice experience. The military spouse exception is found at Rule III.(A)(5) A of the Rules Governing Admission to the Alabama State Bar. You can view the court's order here

Stacey Moseley Promoted to Disciplinary Clerk in OGC

The University of Alabama School of Law to Host Symposium on Gun Regulation

The University of Alabama School of Law is hosting a symposium on Friday, Feb. 21 called Seeing Red: Risk-Based Gun Regulation. It will address many of the most prominent issues and concerns with red-flag legislation, including constitutional and due process concerns, the importance of language when discussing mental health and red flags, the success and efficacy of red-flag laws, the differences among reporting standards in different states, and current proposed red-flag legislation in Alabama. Young Lawyers' Section Orange Beach CLE

The Young Lawyers' Section is hosting its annual Orange Beach CLE on May 14-17, at the Perdido Beach Resort. The CLE will include a panel of federal judges and an entire day devoted to business development and legal marketing. This course is pending approval by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee of Alabama for a maximum of 6 hours credit including 1.0 hours of ethics. You can register at this link and check the YLS Facebook page for updates.
