144th Annual Meeting Kicks Off Wednesday!

We're so excited about this year's in-person and virtual Annual Meeting! The in-person programming kicks off Wednesday afternoon, while the virtual sessions begin Thursday.

WE HAVE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THE VIRTUAL TRACK through midnight Wednesday. Register on your dashboard. The $99 virtual track includes 13 CLE hours, including an hour of ethics.

You can view the extended version of the program here! We also have a free app for all attendees, which allowed you to view the meeting schedule, create a personalized schedule, view speaker photos and bios, view and download CLE materials, and much more.

We will not be providing printed handout materials or a thumb drive during the meeting. If you would like to have a printed handout with you during the meeting, you may access, download and print any or all of the 2021 Annual Meeting CLE Materials from the App.

Supreme Court of Alabama Revokes All But One COVID-related Emergency Orders

The Court, having fully considered that the state of emergency for the State of Alabama has ended, ordered the end of the state of emergency for the Judicial Branch of the State of Alabama effective 5:00 p.m. on July 11, 2021. All previous administrative orders issued by this Court related to the COVID-19 pandemic are revoked, except for Administrative Order No. 10 issued on Apr. 28, 2021, which extended provisions pertaining to settlements in workers’ compensation cases until July 29, 2021, or further order of this Court. Amendments to Alabama Rules of Appellate Procedure

The Supreme Court of Alabama has made chances to the Alabama Rules of Appellate Procedure. The linked Order amends Rule 28(d)(6), Rule 32(a)(3)(A), and Rule 32(a)(4), and adopts the committee comments to those rules, effective immediately. Also, please see the additional Order adopting Rule 21(g) and Rule 27(e), effective August 1, 2021.

Supreme Court Seeks Comment on Proposed Changes to Attorney Advertising Rules

The Supreme Court of Alabama requests written comments by any interested person on amendments to Rules 7.1-7.6 of the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct that have been proposed by the Board of Bar Commissioners of the Alabama State Bar. Comments should be accompanied by the name (including position and organization if appropriate) and contact information of the submitting person and must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021.

Those submitting comments may do so in one of the following three ways:

Chief Deputy Clerk Position Vacancy for U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit

ASB Position Opening: VLP Intake Specialist

The ASB Volunteer Lawyer Program (VLP) has a position opening for an intake specialist. The majority of the intake specialist's job will be interviewing clients and identifying potential legal issues. A paralegal degree, paralegal certification or legal experience is required.
