Solo & Small Firm to Host South Alabama Probate Practice CLE

Mark your calendar for 6 hours of Probate Practice CLE, which will take place at the RSA Activity Center in Montgomery on Thursday, Sept. 5. The cost is $25. The presentation schedule and registration information can be found here

Albert Brewer To Be Inducted into Alabama Men's Hall of Fame

Former Governor Albert P. Brewer, a distinguished attorney who also taught at Cumberland School of Law, will be inducted into the Alabama Men’s Hall of Fame (AMHOF) Tuesday, Sept. 17. The annual induction luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at The Club in Homewood. Luncheon tickets are $40 each and reservations must be made by Sept. 9. Read more about the award and luncheon here.

Award Reception for 2019 Susan Bevill Livingston Leadership Award Winner

The Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar will hold a reception honoring this year’s Susan Bevill Livingston Leadership Award winner, Allison Skinner, on Sept. 19, from 5-7 p.m., at Cadence Bank headquarters in Birmingham . This award honors a woman lawyer who demonstrates a continual commitment to those around her as a mentor, a sustained level of leadership throughout her career, and a commitment to her community. Notice of Comment Period 

The current term of U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Russ Walker at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama is due to expire on April 22, 2020. Comments from members of the bar are invited through Oct. 28, as to whether the incumbent magistrate judge should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the court.

Alabama Women's Suffrage Centennial Committee to Host Public Meeting

The AWSCC, co-chaired by ASB President Christy Crow, will host a public information meeting about plans to celebrate the anniversary. It will take place Sept. 9 at 4 p.m., at the Alabama Dept. of Archives and History.
