ASB Position Opening: Law Practice Management Coordinator

This position is responsible for educating attorneys on best practices for managing their practice and law firm, including gathering information, reviewing member benefit proposals, presenting and planning CLE programs, writing for publications, and consulting with individual attorneys and firms. Official Court Reporter Vacancy Announcement

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama is currently accepting applications for a full-time Official Court Reporter in Mobile, Alabama.  Candidates must be Realtime proficient and utilize Computer Aided Transcription (C.A.T.), with Realtime certification strongly preferred.

REMINDER: Annual License Renewal Payments Due 

While Annual License Renewal Payments were due Oct. 1, payments made after Oct. 31 will be subject to a statutory late fee. Alabama State Bar members will notice a one-year fee decrease in fees. Occupational license fees are reduced from $325 to $300, and the corresponding reduction of the special membership fee goes from $162.50 to $150. Please note, fees will return to the regular rate in 2022. Payment may be made online or you can print a voucher to mail with your check at www.alabar.org.

What is Your Story – Thoughts From Week One of the Pro Bono Celebration Book Club

As lawyers, we all have a story to tell. That story might be something from our past that causes embarrassment, shame, or anger. That story might be something you view as a weakness in our profession. However, in the first week of the book club, we learned that we all have a story that can be used as a strength. We learned to be open to share those stories to encourage and influence others. This week also taught us the value of mentorship to individuals that reach out to us. We all live such busy lives, but take that time to inspire others to enter our legal profession, but especially if a person has the courage to cold call your office for advice. As lawyers, we should never step away from our responsibility to render service including mentoring the next generation of lawyers. What is your story?
