A special thank you to all of the groups and attorneys that participated in pro bono month this year!

We had a great month full of exciting events. We held 5 free CLEs on zoom each Wednesday of the month. The topics covered this year were “I’ve Looked a Mediation from Both Sides Now” by Greg Vaughan, Angeline Sperling, and Harold Stephens, Divorce Modifications by Judge Brian Huff, an Ethics Update by Roman Shaul, Alabama Workers’ Compensation Ombudsman Program by Patrick Pendleton, and Heir Property by Professor Will Breland. Each CLE had great attendance of over 200 attorneys each week.

We held six pro bono month clinics: Selma Counsel and Advice Clinic, an Expungement Clinic in Lee County, Tuscaloosa Counsel and Advice Clinic, Anniston Senior Wills Clinic, a Shelby County Wills for Heroes Clinic, and a Free Legal Answers Clinic. The free legal answers clinic was co-sponsored with the Young Lawyers Section, and the health law section.

We held a booth to recruit new admittees at the admission ceremony, spoke to the attendees at the Solo and Small Firm Seminar.

The Law Schools held a friendly competition to see which school can get the most 1L Law Students to sign the Pro Bono Pledge, the school to sign up the largest percentage of their first-year class will win bragging rights for the year. The winner of this years Pro Bono Pledge is the University of Alabama School of Law.
