Attorney Licensing

Alabama State Bar members must annually purchase either an Occupational License or a Special Membership.

Certificate of Good Standing

Any ASB member in good standing may access a certificate of good standing, at any time, by going to their profile page. If you are having trouble with your login, please contact us at 334-269-1515.

If you are required to provide a certificate of good standing from a federal court, “court of highest jurisdiction,” or “highest court of the state,” you must direct your request to that specific court clerk’s office.

Identification Numbers

ASB Bar ID

Members of the Alabama State Bar are automatically assigned a state bar identification number (Bar ID) on their admission date to the bar. This number is used when reporting CLE credit, paying license fees and special membership dues, or accessing FastCase. This number is printed on your bar card, your license or special membership. Members may request their Bar ID by emailing ms@alabar.org or by contacting the Attorney Licensing Office at (334) 269-1515.

AOC Attorney Code

Alabama State Bar members are also assigned a six-digit court identification code by the Administrative Office of Courts (AOC) that is to be used to track civil case filings, as well as other cases handled by each attorney. The code is the first three letters of the attorney’s last name followed by a sequential three-digit number. This number may be obtained by calling AOC at 1-866-954-9411.
