Alabama State Bar and Courts Closed Due to Severe Weather: January 21–22, 2025

Montgomery, AL — In response to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Kay Ivey, all state offices and buildings in Montgomery County, along with several other counties in central and southern Alabama, will be closed on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 due to severe weather conditions. This includes the closure of the Alabama State Bar building.
Affected counties include: Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Chilton, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Geneva, Greene, Hale, Henry, Houston, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Sumter, Tallapoosa, Washington, and Wilcox.
Governor Ivey has issued a memorandum outlining the closure due to extreme weather conditions and dangerous travel conditions.
Court Closures Announced
In addition to the state office closures, Chief Justice Parker and Incoming Chief Justice Stewart have issued a joint administrative order authorizing the presiding judges of the 39 affected counties to close courts on January 21 and January 22, 2025, due to severe weather. The Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building in Montgomery will also be closed during this time.
Please note that the Judges Conference in Auburn on Tuesday and the Investiture ceremony on Friday, January 24, will proceed as scheduled.
