Alabama State Bar Announces New Member Benefit with Cognito Legal Software

MONTGOMERY, Ala., and FAIRHOPE, Ala. (June 13, 2022) – The Alabama State Bar has announced a new benefit for its members with Cognito Legal Workflow Software which offers its members exclusive savings of 20 percent off access to its new cloud-based legal software. The Alabama Bar encourages its members to take advantage of resources and information it believes will enhance their professional success, including emerging technologies.

“We’re excited to announce this new member benefit with Cognito,” said Chris Colee, Law Practice Management Program Coordinator at the Alabama State Bar. “Not only are they offering a great new product that we believe our members could benefit from, but they are also a legal tech company, based right here in Alabama,” Colee said. “It’s really a win-win for our membership.”

Through its collaboration with Cognito, the Alabama State Bar is providing ASB’s 19,000+ members with discounted access to the company’s new app that seamlessly captures, organizes, and stores the daily activity of legal professionals, including research, documents, web links, notes, quotes, summaries, history, and more. Users’ work is saved in full context for easy access and retrieval, reducing the need to search multiple apps or recreate work repeatedly for similar tasks.

Cognito was launched in 2021 by a practicing attorney, Clay Rankin, and is based in Fairhope. His goal was to help attorneys save time and to allow them to focus on their work as lawyers. “Most lawyers interact with technology through a disjointed collection of email, document managers, and drafting tools,” said Rankin. “The result is fragmented thinking, duplicated effort, and stress. Cognito was built to solve this crippling problem,” he said. “The future of legal work is the intersection of technology and knowledge. That includes the legal expertise that we as attorneys bring to our cases every day, along with all other granular details,” he said. He added, “That’s what exactly Cognito does as you build your case.”
