Michael Ballard Honored with J. Anthony “Tony” McLain Professionalism Award

MIRIMAR BEACH, Fla. and MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Alabama State Bar has awarded Michael Ballard the 2022 J. Anthony “Tony” McLain Professionalism Award.

Ballard was presented with the award at the 145th Annual Meeting of the Alabama State Bar on June 25, 2022, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Miramar Beach, Fla. Ballard was celebrated for the many ways he impacted his community and profession.

Ballard was a 1978 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law (Juris Doctorate) and a 1980 graduate of Emory University School of Law (LLM in Taxation). He has practiced at Ulmer, Hillman and Ballard, P.C. since 1998.

Alabama State Bar President Taze Shepard said, “The Alabama State Bar is proud to award Michael Ballard with the Judicial Award of Merit. He exemplifies a dedication to the advancement of professionalism within the Alabama State Bar.”

Ballard is a member of the Mobile County and Baldwin County Bar Associations and has participated in a number of sections.  He has been a member of the Mobile Estate Planning Council since 1982 and is currently serving on its Executive Committee. He has served as a longtime member of the Alabama Bar Association Client Security Fund Committee and is currently ending a term as Chair of that committee.

“Michael Ballard is very deserving of this award,” Alabama State Bar Executive Director Terri Lovell said. “We have all benefited from his contributions to the Alabama State Bar.”
