Pat Sefton Honored with Award of Merit

MIRIMAR BEACH, Fla. and MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Alabama State Bar has awarded Pat Sefton the 2022 Award of Merit.

Sefton was presented with the award at the 145th Annual Meeting of the Alabama State Bar on June 25, 2022, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Miramar Beach, Fla. Sefton was celebrated for the many ways he has impacted his community and profession.

Sefton is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. He is a shareholder with Sasser, Sefton and Brown, P.C. in Montgomery, and he practices in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law.

Alabama State Bar President Taze Shepard said, “The Alabama State Bar is proud to award Pat Sefton with the Award of Merit. He exemplifies a dedication to service to the legal profession in Alabama.”

He is a past president of both the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. He is also a past Alabama representative to the Defense Research Institute, the largest national association of defense trial lawyers. Sefton serves on Alabama State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners. He is chair of the Alabama State Bar Character and Fitness Committee and is a fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation.

Sefton and his wife, Anne, are parents of four children and attend Church of the Highlands where they are leaders in the small group ministry.

“Pat Sefton is very deserving of this award,” Alabama State Bar Executive Director Terri Lovell said. “We have all benefited from his contributions to the Alabama State Bar.”
