Part-Time Contract Clinic Administrator
Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham’s (VLB) mission is to provide free, high-quality legal services to individuals and families who cannot afford legal representation. By connecting volunteer attorneys with those in need, we help ensure that the legal system works for everyone, not just those who can afford it.
We envision a community in which people are informed and educated about their legal rights and available resources; feel empowered to advocate for themselves; are met with empathy and compassion; feel heard and understood; and are able to trust in a legal system that treats them fairly.
VLB is seeking a part-time Clinic Administrator for our weekly District Court Access to Justice program. This groundbreaking initiative provides real-time legal assistance at Jefferson County District Court (716 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd, N). Every day, unrepresented individuals navigate eviction proceedings, debt collection cases, and other critical civil matters without understanding their rights or options.
The Clinic Administrator will work closely with VLB’s Managing Attorney, staff attorneys, and volunteer attorneys to provide critical assistance for clients facing civil legal issues involving housing, wage garnishment, and more. This position will assist with setting up the weekly clinics, intaking clients, assigning cases to volunteer attorneys, and providing assistance as needed.
Please note: Applicants must be available to work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This position requires some flexibility in scheduling. Any changes to regular hours will be made collaboratively and with prior notice.
