Ethics for the Ethical – What Every Lawyer Needs to Know About the Alabama Ethics Act

This CLE webinar will provide an overview of common Alabama Ethics Act issues and questions that attorneys frequently have. The one-hour program is a free service of the Alabama State Bar to its members that has been arranged by the leadership of the Alabama State Bar.
It is approved for 1.0 MCLE Credit, including one ethics hour.
The presentation will be moderated by Ellen Brooks who has recently been serving as the interim Executive Director of the Alabama State Bar and who before that spent several decades as one of Alabama’s most respected prosecutors including over 20 years as the District Attorney of Montgomery County.
The presenters will be:
Othni Lathram – Currently the Director of Alabama’s Legislative Services Agency, which houses a number of legislative agencies that support the Legislature, and who has assisted in the drafting of numerous ethics laws and proposals for state policymakers. Othni previously lead the Alabama Law Institute after practicing with Whatley Drake in Birmingham.
Greg Butrus – a partner with Balch & Bingham who has worked on ethics compliance issues at the state and federal level for many years. Greg currently chairs the Bar’s Government Relations Liaison Committee and previously helped establish the State Bar’s Election, Ethics, and Government Relations Section.
Handouts and reference materials will be provided to participants 24 hours before the CLE begins.
