ASB Position Opening: Financial Assistant

The Alabama State Bar (ASB) is seeking a full-time financial assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support the Director of Finance in executing a range of essential daily accounting and administrative tasks for the agency.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manage clerical tasks associated with travel; secure pre-authorization for travel requests; address and resolve travel-related questions and inquiries; prepare and compute travel forms to ensure that all expense claims are precise and adhere to applicable travel policies and procedures
  • Prepare and deposit cash receipts using the online remote banking deposit system
  • Conduct data entry for cash receipts and payment documents into the business systems utilized by the ASB and the State of Alabama
  • Assist in the mailing and distribution of accounts payable checks
  • Reconcile specific account balances to ensure that cash receipts have been properly recorded
  • Facilitate the transfer of funds among multiple bank accounts owned by the agency
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for designated bank accounts
  • Aid in the compilation of financial documents as requested by external auditors and state examiners
  • Maintain accurate and organized document filing systems

 

Primary Qualifications

  • High school diploma; an Associate degree in business or accounting is preferred, or three to five years of clerical accounting experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures, with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in personal computer usage is essential, with experience working in accounting software and Windows-based applications; must be skilled in Excel
  • Excellent data processing capabilities and a keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
