We are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Assistant to join our team.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in all aspects of real estate and business law matters. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, prepare, and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in state and federal courts
  • Manage and monitor case files, ensuring all deadlines and court requirements are met
  • Prepare real estate transaction documents, including deeds, contracts, and closing documents
  • Draft business formation documents, including articles of incorporation, operating agreements, and corporate resolutions
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties in a professional manner
  • Prepare and process client billing and maintain accurate time records
  • Maintain organized filing systems and document management
  • Schedule depositions, hearings, closings, and client meetings
  • Conduct basic legal research as needed
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the efficient operation of the firm

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with real estate and/or business law
  • Familiarity with Alabama state court and federal court filing procedures
  • Knowledge of legal case management software
  • Notary Public certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Bankruptcy filing and procedure
