The Alabama State Bar on Friday received the Isaac Hecht Law Client Protection Award from the National Client Protection Organization, Inc., during the tenth annual presentation at the American Bar Association’s 30th National Forum on Client Protection in Long Beach, California.

“It’s an honor for the bar to receive this award, and solidifies the hard work that is put forth every day to ensure the public of the integrity of the profession of law,” said Alabama State Bar President Anthony A. Joseph of Birmingham (Maynard Cooper & Gale PC).

The Client Security Fund was established more than 30 years ago by the Alabama State Bar, and provides a remedy for the few clients who have lost money or other property as a result of the dishonest conduct of practicing attorneys or whose attorneys have unexpectedly passed away without making proper provision for incomplete work by providing some reimbursement to clients.

The award was presented to Alabama State Bar Client Security Chairman Michael E. Ballard of Mobile (Ulmer Hillman & Ballard PC) by the National Client Protection Organization President Michael J. Knight.
